Tourist Season 2010: ideas, proposals and suggestions aimed at scheduling of orders and interventions necessary for cleaning and preservation of the coastline, roads and land of the Egadi.

In 1987, the study carried out with Prof. Giangaspare Iron Hypothesis for a plan of socio-economic development of Favignana, which you surely have read, I wrote:

", also denouncing" smelly bins, defaced the coast from Waste, etc.. because as you know, in the summer months, with an increase in attendance, the problems become normal macroscopic and unsatisfactory services, resulting in negative fallout for the image of the Egadi, the largest marine reserve in Italy.

And now, to prevent Egadi be called beautiful but dirty and mediocre tourist services which are needed measures, actions and interventions choral and continuous, coordinated by the Town Council with the cooperation of all tour operators, associations, and with the important support of the Marine Protected Area (in 2010 should finally do its job properly). 1) TICKET ECOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL

Starting in 2010, from May 1 to September 30: •

• All owners (not residents) of the boats that take visitors to the islands, and all operators of docks for pleasure boats, will have to pay a ticket, to be established and quantified.
The amounts collected with this "tax purpose" should be used only to keep the shores clean and squares, for the purchase of refuse containers, to pay for environmental custodians, etc..
2) GUARDIAN ENVIRONMENTAL PENALTIES FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT RESPECT THE ENVIRONMENT
All tourists arrive on the island are welcome, but must respect and understand any penalties. Visitors must understand that the disposal of a can or a plastic bottle abandoned at a cost to the Administration.
In a recent order amending the Rules of the road there is a provision that calls on mayors to "impose a substantial fine to anyone who dirty the public streets and public spaces."
Therefore, to control the territory and enforce the rules, given the limited number of traffic police, we propose to: • create
the figure of the "environmental guardian" (ranger, warning, voluntary civil protection, etc..) Fitted with card, with the task of monitoring the coastline, roads and the center to prevent not only violations, but also environmental damage. These guards should be provided with the phone (to report any infringements to the Brigade or Police), walkie-talkie and camera.
• Consider also, for the whole summer period, the possible use of security guards and traffic police "lent" to other municipalities.
• Distribute to all tourists at the ticket offices in Trapani and Marsala or the hydrofoil, a multilingual brochure welcome, stating "numbers and useful addresses, raise awareness to the preservation of places to visit, and indicate the penalties for polluters or dirty.
3) TASK FORCE ENVIRONMENT - ADOPTION coves and beaches

4) CLEANING AND CONTROL BACKGROUND OF THE SEA FRONT OF THE COAST

• effettuare giornalmente un controllo, atto a garantire il mantenimento della pulizia, con l’ausilio di barche che raccolgano tutti gli oggetti galleggianti avvistati e segnalino eventuali infrazioni di natanti di passaggio e nelle hauls.

My personal experience, shared with the political coordinator Salvatore Tammaro, I can affirm that the above is indeed feasible. (In recent years, the Tourist Association Geo Cala Rossa, self-financing, have successfully implemented and a lot of difficulties, some initiatives for protecting and found encouragement and appreciation tourists.)
Nevertheless, to achieve what is proposed in these six points, in addition to such determination, you need the cooperation of the majority of the political, economic and social, and it is important that the atavistic conflict is muted, the protagonist is negative marginalized, and we do not influenced by corporations or special interests.
